The label was introduced in the Grand Duchy in 211 in close Collaboration between the Ministry of tourism and the LVI (Lëtzebuerger Vëlos-Initiativ).
The establishments that carry the “Bed+Bike” label are those which have made special efforts to welcome cycle tourists, in particular by adapting their services and infrastructures to their specific needs. The label requires, among other things, that establishments provide visitors with secure premises for their bicycles and tools for making minor repairs to bicycles, that specific tourist information for cycle tourism is available on site and a balanced breakfast is offered.
The hotel classification was introduced by the Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with Horesca Luxembourg. They propose an official system classification for hotels in Luxembourg, based on an initiative called Hotel Stars Union.
The partnership between Hotel Stars Union and the Luxembourgish hotel classification is providing a harmonized hotel classification with common criteria and procedures in the participating countries around Europe. The Hotelstars Union enhances the reputation and quality of the hotel industry in the participating countries by creating transparency and security for the guests and thereby encouraging hotel marketing.
